Francophone Film Festival 2026 – Free Screenings at LSK in March!

Ready for a cinematic journey? As part of the city-wide Francophonie Festival, the CUHK French Programme is proud to present the 2026 Francophone Film Festival.

Organized in collaboration with the French-speaking Consulates in Hong Kong (France, Belgium, Switzerland, Canada), the Alliance Française, and Parenthèses bookshop, this year’s selection brings three acclaimed French films straight to our campus (with subtitles).

From sci-fi thrillers to gripping dramas, join us every Wednesday in March:
• Wednesday, 11 March (6:30 PM): The Animal Kingdom (Le Règne animal) – A breathtaking sci-fi/fantasy drama.

Summer in Germany 2026

Watch a German Comedy!

Did you know that you can take a summer course in Germany and transfer credits towards your minor? Where should you go? How is Germany like? Will you survive on German food?

These and other questions will be answered at our upcoming event on Thursday, February 12 Room KKB 101 (Leung Kau Kui Building on main campus).

After the introduction of the summer courses, we will watch a comedy called "Manitou's Canoe", a parody of Wild West movies.

Scholarship for Prospective English Teachers 2026/27 [OAFA]

I am pleased to inform you that the Education Bureau (EDB) will continue to offer the Scholarship for Prospective English Teachers in 2026/27. The aim of the Scholarship is to attract persons proficient in English to pursue relevant local bachelor's degree and/or teacher training programmes which will qualify them to become English language teachers on graduation. Applications for Scholarship for Prospective English Teachers 2026/27 will be accepted in August 2026. Details about the application procedures and deadlines will be announced on EDB 's website in June 2026. Both local and non-local students who will pursue Year 1 study in relevant study programmes commencing from 2026/27 are eligible to apply. The list of eligible programmes of the various institutions is in Appendix 1. The Scholarship in the amounts of HK$50,000 and HK$80,000 per annum for local and non-local undergraduate students respectively is tenable for the normative period of the study programme. For studying the Postgraduate Diploma in Education, local students will be awarded HK$50,000 for the whole programme whereas non-local students will be awarded HK$80,000. A circular dated 20 November 2025 has been issued by the Secretary for Education to the Heads of all secondary schools to inform them of the Scholarship. For detailed information on the Scholarship, please refer to the information sheets in Appendix 2. Professor Patrick Wong Chun-man receiving grant from RGC of UGC under the Areas of Excellence (AoE) Scheme 2025/26


Four research projects led by CUHK have been awarded over HK$220 million in total funding from RGC of the UGC under the AoE Scheme and the TRS 2025/26.

Congratulations to the team led by Professor Patrick Wong Chun-man, Associate Vice-President (Research) and Stanley Ho Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience in the Department of Linguistics and Modern Languages at CUHK, has received HK$10 million funding from the Research Grants Council (RGC) of the University Grants Committee (UGC) under the Areas of Excellence (AoE) Scheme 2025/26 for the project “Optimizing Early Childhood Development of Children from Low-Resource Settings by Leveraging Technology and Biological Data”, which is considered a potentially ground-breaking and highly-original research, as an exploratory project with one-year budget to yield preliminary results.
