Change of major and declaration of minor

Application for change of major

Eligibility

Students applying for change of Major to the Linguistics programme should satisfy the following two conditions:

  1. The student should have fulfilled at least one of the following minimum conditions, as prescribed by the Senate:
    1. the student has taken course(s) of at least 6 units with an average grade of not less than B- that would count towards the major requirements of the programme; OR
    2. the admission WGPA score of the student satisfies the guideline set by the University for transfer-in students; OR
    3. the student has attained a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above in the current academic year.
  2. The student should have completed at least a 3-unit course from the Linguistics programme. Application Period

Application Procedures

Applicants must submit the e-Application form(s) under CUSIS (Program Change) for change of major. Please refer to the details from RES homepage. Applicants should upload the following documents on CUSIS during the application period:

  • Completed e-application form(s) under CUSIS for change of Major,
  • A letter explaining reasons for the application,
  • A copy of previous academic results obtained at CUHK, and
  • A copy of the DSE results, or other public examinations results obtained at high school.

Shortlisted candidates may be required to attend an interview and take a written test.
