and culture! Our Thai programme offers language courses at Beginners and Intermediate level that open a window not only to Thailand’s beautiful language, but also to her rich and unique culture.
Learning Thai will enable you to communicate with the 60 million people in Thailand and get access to their cultural heritage. The Thai language is a tonal language like Chinese, with 5 tones in standard Thai. The unique Thai writing system is over 700 years old!
In 2007, Thailand ranked 10 in the list of Hong Kong’s most important trading partners, and about 450,000 residents from Hong Kong visit Thailand every year! Our courses provide an interactive learning environment with classroom learning and extra-curricular activities. Students without any background knowledge of Thai can join our courses.
THAI1000 Thai I (Course Outline A) (Course Outline B)
This is an introductory course in Thai designed for the students without any prior knowledge of Thai. The course focuses on learning how to communicate in simple Thai. The course emphasizes class interaction and practices to provide a reasonable coverage of basic structures and vocabulary for everyday life. Various aspects of Thai culture and its life style will also be introduced for a comprehensive picture of Thai language in real context. Basic Thai writing will be introduced.

THAI2000 Thai II (Course Outline)
Building on the knowledge acquired in THAI1000 (1001), this course aims to further develop students’ ability to communicate in Thai in various everyday situations. It also seeks to give students a taste of Thai culture and invites them to explore cultural differences. Through intensive practice students will develop more confidence in interacting in Thai while further expanding and solidifying their understanding of the basic grammar and pronunciation patterns.
Pre-requisite: THAI1000
THAI2050 Thai I & II
This is a summer intensive Thai course for beginners, covering the full syllabus of THAI1000 and 2000.
