After receiving her Bachelor’s degree in German linguistics from Ewha Womans University, Dr. Yu Sunhee obtained a Master’s degree in German as a second language and pedagogies from Heidelberg University in Germany, and a doctoral degree in German Linguistics from Ewha Womans University in Korea. Her PhD thesis was about pedagogies of foreign languages focusing on the German language. She had taught German to Korean students and Korean to foreign students at Ewha Womans University for seven years before she came to Hong Kong to teach Korean for university students in 2011. She is a member of the International Association for Korean Language Education and was responsible for setting questions for the examinations of TOPIK (an official proficiency test in Korean). She published a textbook on Korean. Her research interests include applied linguistics, contrastive linguistics, second language acquisition, and development of task-based teaching method and materials.
