“Professor Maggie Ziyin Mai received her BA and MA from Peking University, and MPhil and PhD from University of Cambridge. She completed her postdoctoral training and served as Lecturer and Research Assistant Professor at the Chinese University of Hong Kong (CUHK). Before returning to CUHK in 2023, she was Assistant Professor at City University of Hong Kong. Her current research interests are language acquisition and multilingualism. She has used corpus, experimental and statistical methods to investigateĀ the maintenance of Chinese in young heritage speakers in English-dominant contexts, the (un)balanced development of Cantonese, English and Mandarin in multilingual children in multilingual communities, as well as the representation and online processing of complex grammatical features by adult learners of Chinese.
